Lizz to host Jaw Pain workshop
Save this date: 3/27/07 7:00pm

Jaw Pain Workshop – Thursday, March 27 7:00pm-8:30pm $30 individual/$50 couple

I will be hosting a workshop in March. We have found that over eighty percent of our neck pain and headache clients have some component of jaw tension. And many clients come to us with jaw pain as their main concern.

Jay and I started specializing in treating headaches, neck pain, and TMJ dysfunction approximately three years ago. We both suffered from all three! Sometimes the best therapist is one who can understand what you’re going through.

Learn how to effectively and gently treat jaw pain. Each person will receive a brief treatment to help them locate the correct points. Discussion and supervised practice will follow. There will be time for couples to work on each other as well.

This is an excellent opportunity for those of you who cannot afford to come in for a full treatment and for those who will take the two minutes a day to give yourself relief.

Space is limited, so please call me to reserve your spot.

Valentine Specials at LWM&E

Purchase a Relaxation Massage and Facial gift certificate. Your Valentine will enjoy approximately two hours in our office. $140

Choose the Chocolate & Roses Body Treatment and your Valentine will enjoy a rose-scented body exfoliation and a back treatment (a “facial” for the back, complete with hot stone massage and chocolate-scented mask). He or she should allow approximately 90 minutes. $175

Myofascial Update
A new specialty for Lizz?

Since November I’ve been ecstatic about a massage modality called Myofascial Release. I’ve since had the opportunity to integrate my recent training in this technique into massages for my regular clients and the results have astounded me.

Each person reported that the massage felt great and was both pampering and relaxing. The results were increased mobility and flexibility, decreased pain, decreased tension, and an overall feeling of relaxation. Even some of my die-hard deep tissue clients that rely on heavier techniques for pain relief were converted!

I’ll be receiving more advanced training in this technique in both March and June, and hope to be able to make it to one of the 60-hour intensives sometime this year. This means I’ll be out of town for almost a month, but it will definitely be worth it!

Deep Tissue Treatments: Please call Jay
Jay loves this technique; Lizz is no longer offering it.

After a long, hard look at my strengths and weaknesses as a massage therapist, I have decided not to offer full body deep tissue massages. It’s not something that I enjoy doing or even receiving, and my body mechanics work against me. (I’m hyper-mobile and it’s very hard to give enough pressure and preserve my career at the same time.) There are so many other techniques that I would love to focus on and help my clients with.

Jay, on the other hand, is fantastic at deep tissue; loves to give it; and loves to receive it. (I swear, his idea of the perfect massage would be to have me stand on him and hit him with a sledgehammer! He adores giving and receiving deep work.)

Should you desire a deep tissue massage, please book those appointments with Jay in the future.

I will still be specializing in pain relief for headaches, neck pain, and TMJ dysfunction, as well as providing these services for other parts of the body. This message applies only to massages based around deep tissue, not massages that incorporate it as one technique in the toolbox.
